EXECUTIVE TEAM

Jeffrey Segal, MD, JD, FACS
Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Medical Justice

Dr. Jeffrey Segal, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Medical Justice, is a board-certified neurosurgeon. Dr. Segal is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons as well as the North American Spine Society. In the process of conceiving, funding, developing, and growing Medical Justice, Dr. Segal has established himself as one of the country's leading authorities on medical malpractice issues, counterclaims, and Internet-based assaults on reputation.

Dr. Segal was a practicing neurosurgeon for approximately ten years, during which time he also played an active role as a participant on various state-sanctioned medical review panels designed to decrease the incidence of medical malpractice cases.

Dr. Segal holds a M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine, where he also completed a neurosurgical residency.  Dr. Segal served as a Spinal Surgery Fellow at The University of South Florida Medical School. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa as well as the AOA Medical Honor Society. Dr. Segal received his B.A. from The University of Texas. Dr. Segal graduated with a J.D. from Concord Law School with highest honors.

In the 1990's, Dr. Segal served as Secretary for the Indiana State Neurosurgical Society. In 2000, he co-founded and served as CEO of DarPharma, Inc, a biotechnology company in Chapel Hill, N.C., focused on the discovery and development of first-of-class pharmaceuticals for neuropsychiatric disorders.

 
Graeme Hampton, PhD
Chief Operating Officer of Medical Justice

Dr. Graeme Hampton joined Medical Justice in 2002, assuming the role of Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Hampton oversees Claims Management and Business/Sales Development nationwide.

Dr. Hampton received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Color Chemistry at Leeds University in England, as well as his B.S. in Applied Chemistry from RMIT University in Australia.

A seasoned veteran of sales and marketing, Dr. Hampton was employed for twenty years by Ciba-Geigy (now Novartis) and Ciba Specialty Chemicals. As Vice President of Sales and a member of the Ciba Global Leadership Team, he planned and implemented strategic business plans as well as sales and marketing initiatives, and successfully led business teams in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

For three years, Dr. Hampton led a business consultancy group, Sales Grower, which serviced pharmaceutical, medical, and technology clients. Dr. Hampton was instrumental in developing marketing strategies that fueled the growth of his client's businesses. 

With his intuitive grasp of customer needs, Dr. Hampton has been effective in developing the services and processes needed to support Medical Justice Plan Members.

 
Kent Cox, MD, PhD, FACS
Director of Physician Services of Medical Justice

In early 2004, Dr. Kent Cox assumed oversight of Physician Services for Medical Justice.

Following a distinguished career as a Head and Neck surgeon, Dr. Cox decided to do something for his colleagues.  "Medical liability concerns top the list of problems facing physicians today," says Dr. Cox. In his own words, he joined Medical Justice, "to create a better environment for doctors."

Dr. Cox received a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, with Honors, from the University of Kansas. While doing post-doctoral work at the University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Cox decided to return to the University of Kansas to obtain a medical degree. In 1980 he completed his Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) residency at the University of Washington, Seattle. He received a B.A., Cum Laude, in Chemistry and Physics from Kansas Wesleyan University.

In 1998, Dr. Cox retired as an active partner in a combined ENT, facial and general plastic surgery partnership in Seattle, Washington. He went on to establish a solo practice in Arizona, where he provided surgical services to a rural population.

Dr. Cox is Past-President of the Northwest Academy of Otolaryngology ("NAO").  During his tenure at the NAO, Dr. Cox concentrated on medicolegal issues of specialty medicine in the State of Washington and represented ENT physicians on the Interspecialty Council of the Washington State Medical Association.

 
Michael Sacopulos, Esq.
Sacopulos, Johnson, and Sacopulos
General Counsel, Medical Justice

Michael J. Sacopulos is a Partner with Sacopulos, Johnson & Sacopulos, in Terre Haute, Indiana. He assisted in developing the critical legal underpinnings of Medical Justice when the company was in its infancy. His core expertise is in medical malpractice defense and third party payment disputes. Attorney Sacopulos joined the Medical Justice team formally in 2004 and assumed the role of General Counsel. 

Mr. Sacopulos graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard College and conducted his graduate work in Economic History at London School of Economics. He holds an Honor Degree from Indiana University Law School, Indianapolis.

 
Shane Stadler
Vice President of Marketing

Shane Stadler joined the Medical Justice team in 2008 as Vice President of Marketing.  Mr. Stadler received his  B.A. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his M.B.A from the Bryan School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society.

Beginning his career as Director of Advertising for the Washington Bullets (now Washington Wizards), Mr. Stadler later returned to his family's business as Vice President for Stadler's Country Hams, Inc., the nation's largest manufacturer of dry cured ham.   After Smithfield Foods, Inc., the world's largest pork producer, purchased Stadler's Country Hams, Mr. Stadler founded daVinci Bridge LLC, a pioneering consulting company in the field of digital broadcasting. 

Mr. Stadler's expertise includes strategic positioning and growth strategies for entrepreneurial environments.
